I was very pleased to join this international group of 13 fine ladies from Hong Kong, Belgium, Argentina, USA, Scotland, Russia, Brasil, England, Spain and Germany, for the Masterclass with textile artist Irit Dulman (Israel) and dress maker/fashion designer Revital Avidar (Israel).
For 9 days we stayed at a tiny village, Azanza in the Goñi Valley, in the Province of Navarre, Spanish Pyrenees.
We (and my husband Sieg was also present and enjoyed Pamplona while we were working) were lodged in two typical Basque old rural houses in the valley with a vast green prairie surrounded by the Sarbil Hills.

With huge organizational skills Elisa Suarez (Argentina), Lili Muzzapappa (Spain), Adriana Calcagno (Argentina) and Léon Yaben Muzzapappa (Basque chief cook ) took care of all the logistics.
For five days we made samples and learned new techniques with Irit. Sometimes we worked 13 hours a day! But we learned sooo much. Irit had a lot of samples and awesome cloths with her.
First we experimented on wool with eucalypt.

The local press took some pictures and wrote a nice article about this exceptional international group!
We started with indigo dyeing and did some walks together around the village, trying to find the right leaves. And making more samples with other colors and prints.
One afternoon we went all together to Pamplona with a bus, and enjoyed a great dinner with lots of fun and happy memories!
After a lot of thinking, try outs and making samples with different skills, talking about colors and fabric, leaves and techniques it was time to design the pattern for the dress. Revital learned us how to design and make the pattern for our own dress.
First we cut the 'étoile' or a rehearsel garment, with the pattern we designed, sewed it by hand and made improvements.

Now it's time to print on the big cloth of jersey silk. Everybody had another design and print in mind. Most of us are using silk, others jersey, viscose or wool.
While working on the cutting and modeling of the dresses, we were treated well with 'pinchos' (Basque tapas) and delicious local food!
Stitching the dress was not easy but working all together and with a lot of good advice and patience of Revital, we all succeeded!

Meanwhile Patrick of Green'ing (http://www.green-ingredients.com/en/) came from France to give a lecture about natural dyeing extracts. Green'ing is specialized in plant ingredients, plant extracts, active compounds and natural dyes.
Every time a dress was ready, we had to show. There were dances and a big last night party with presents, drinks and fiesta!
Finally Idan Levy (Irit's husband and professional photographer) photographed us all one by one with his masterful eye and encapsulated a very special event. Everyone was proud of his unique achievement.
Thanks Idan!!!
The last morning we danced around and felt like goddesses!
